This vintage WWII American Army Air Corps ring was meticulously crafted with the utmost of detail. A high relief carved eagle with open wings stretches across the face of the ring, connecting to the polished gold shank that wraps around and extends to the head of the ring. White gold army air corps wings are applied to the polished gold surface, along with a USA engraved shield. Inscribed “JWR” and “43B” on the outer side of the shank, and “India 1944” on the inside.
This particular ring was given by the US Army Air Corps, founded in 1926, to pilots in the Second World War who flew military transport aircraft from India to China to resupply the Chinese war effort of Chiang Kai-shek and the units of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) based in China. It memorializes their sacrifice and devotion to the war effort.
