“Children & Still Life,” Leonard Baskin

Regular price $1,050.00 USD

USDper

One of America’s most important 20th century printmakers, Leonard Baskin explored the representation of his contemporary culture. In this print, “Children & Still Life,” 1956,  Baskin eschews the sentimental depiction of children that was prevalent at the time and instead pairs them with a ragged vase of flowers and weeds.  On the table in front of the vase are a pomegranate, a walnut, a grasshopper, and some strawberries. Given their symbolism in Judaism, these objects serve as both reminders and portents. In many collections including The Met, National Gallery of Art, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and Syracuse University.

Housed in a gold metal leaf frame, with archival cotton/linen mats and museum UV blocking glass.
