This serene painting of a woman feeding her chickens in the French countryside signed by French artist Jules Emmanuel Valadon (b. 1826 d. 1900). Educated at the Beaux-Arts de Paris under Michel Martin Drolling, Léon Cogniet, and Henri Lehmann. He received the Knight of the Legion of Honour and the French Order of Academic Palms. Works housed in the National Gallery of Art, The British Museum, and the Musée Carnavalet.

Condition notes: There is a repaired horizontal crack in panel. Freshly cleaned and a new coat of varnish applied. The frame is original, some areas were re-cast and overpainted.
