An oil painting on linen depicting an early hot air balloon lift off, with British and French Flags. A Paul Foinet stencil mark on verso, from Paris, dates it circa 1885-1900. Foinet supplied canvases to many British artists who were studying in Parisian Ateliers and exhibiting in the Paris Salon. Well known clients include John Singer Sargent and James McNeill Whistler. This piece was done by an unknown British artist in France.

Condition: Surface is clean and fresh varnish applied. Several small areas of inpaint in the sky, old patch on verso. Linen is clean and taut, original stretcher and keys in place. Housed in a contemporary custom frame.
