This moody turn of the century sailboat nocturne beautifully captures how moonlight glows along a city’s harbor. The warm underpainting peaks through, as well as some hints of red and pink, in what would initially seem to be a monochromatic painting. The layers are carefully built up into a brilliant opaque white impasto.
