This mid century landscape by internationally listed French artist Gerald Passet (b. 1936 d. 2013) depicts the lovely town of St. Pere sous Vezelay. Passet painted in an impressionist style often depicting his landscapes and still lifes in geometrically simplified shapes. His depiction of the town has a delightful division of a cool palette of colors for the sky and hills above the warm tones of the buildings and fields. Passet studied under Marcel Roch and was the director of Yves Brayer’s studio. His works are in the collections of the French Government, the City of Paris, The Modern Art Museum of Paris, and The Museum Cantini.
