Tonalist Landscape, Attributed to Willard Leroy Metcalf

Regular price $1,600.00 USD
Unit price
USDper

Lovely and richly textured Tonalist landscape, attributed on verso to American artist Willard Leroy Metcalf (b. 1858-d. 1925). He studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Académie Julian in Paris, then was an instructor at the Art Students League in New York. His earlier work was mostly figure studies and illustrations, but he is most well known for his later landscape paintings.
This is likely one of Metcalf’s later pieces, as the palette is much cooler than some of his previous works.
